According to a report, the Indian Ministry of Steel hoped the state-owned steel making companies, including Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) and Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), as well as state governments, to help raise crude steel production capacity, aiming to increase crude steel production capacity by 25-30 million tons by the fiscal year 2024-25.
It was expected that a Rs 1-1.5 lakh crore investment will be required to achieve the production capacity goal. Indian crude steel production capacity will be hiked by around 28-30 million tons before fiscal 2024-25 through upgrading existing steel plants, compared to the current 142 million tons.
